Ray Ortega: Team Director/Co-Founder

I am a native El Pasoan; 40 yrs old, father of two children, who also help out the E.A.R.P. team.

I have a B.S. Degree in Computer Science; I am also an MCSE Certified Network Engineer/Administrator. However, my creative streak took over and it led me down a different career path. For the past 15 years I have been working as a Graphic Designer/Web Developer. Throughout that time I have worked for several local ad agencies and Clear Channel Radio; as their Creative Director for 4 years. When I left for a two year hiatus to tend to my freelance efforts, I was offered an opportunity to join the creative services team at our Local NBC affiliate NewsChannel9 as their Web Developer and Administrator; I am also their Sr. Graphics Designer and was recently promoted as the Regional Internet Content Coordinator for our parent company ComCorp USA; where I handle and oversee content for several TV stations across 4 marktes. I am happy to say things are going very well there.

Aside from spending time with family and friends I have a wide variety of interests, including reading, writing, Cycling, Cooking (I’m domestic friendly and I even do windows) Graphic Design, listening to and playing music (I’ve played piano since I was 6 and Saxophone since I was 12), football (go Cowboys), photography, video production, History  and anything Tech related.  My kids will also tell you I love gadgets. They’ll even tell you I’m the resident gadget guru. Being alone in the Kitchenware and Electronics Departments are a no-no for me. I’m also addicted to the Sci-Fi, History, Discovery and A&E Channels. My favorite shows to watch are Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State and Ghost Adventures (are you seeing a pattern here?) Actually there are other shows I also love to watch, Law & Order, Heroes, Chuck, My Own Worst Enemy,Life, Medium and Dancing with the Stars (a minor guilty pleasure).

I developed an interest in paranormal phenomena at a very young age, the movie Poltergeist, being one of the motivating factors. My first strange encounter occurred around the time I was 10-years old, when I kept seeing a white hooded figure watching over me at night, this went on for almost a year. At first it appeared it was a just a trick of light that might be seeping through the blinds in my bedroom window. When it continued after a sheet was used to cover the blinds, I knew then it wasn’t a trick of light and not my imagination, the hooded figure moved closer. Then just as suddenly as the encounters began, they ended.

Throughout my child I suffered from night terrors, also known as the old hag syndrome. There were times when appearances of this white shrouded figure would coincide with one of my night terror episodes. Since then I’ve had several encounters with the unknown and I’ve been searching for answers ever since.
