asarco_screen3Several months ago, The El Paso Alternate Reality Project, was asked to investigate the historic ASARCO copper smetling plant, located in El Paso, Texas. Being invited was a huge honor for the team as very few people have been granted access.

In fact, there are less than a handful of Paranormal researchers who have been granted access and is done by invitation only. So we were both humbled and grateful for the opportunity. It's not everday you get to visit a site that has so much history or stirred up so much controversy over the last 100 plus years of it's existence.

On Feb. 28, 2009, the E.A.R.P. team descended on the plant. The team met at the parking log of a local night club for a brief meeting, then it was on to the staging area; It was literally like stepping into another world.

Reasearch Assistant/Site Editor Regina Chavez posted a great write up on our old site, earpzine.com that I think you'll enjoy reading (editors note: we'll be posting that story here soon).

Below is a brief gallery of some of the many photos we took during our 6 hour journey and a really exicting clip from the first building we hit, plus a couple of EVPs for you to enjoy. There's alot more footage we took and plenty of EVPS that will eventually be included in the upcoming DVD that's currently in production. Plus we have tons more stuff to bring back as we have been asked to return to ASARCO. Look for some of that footage soon!

Before you go on to the gallery below, I want to mention that in some of these photos we have what look like legitimate orbs. I've been wanting to write a section on orbs for awhile now and I'll probably do that soon, so please look for an update. But a brief on orbs, dust and airborne particles; in short dust and other non "orb" anomolies are nothing short of being a proverbial thorn in our sides. The existence of orbs are probably one of the most contested and controversial pieces of evidence in the paranormal field and most definately easy fodder for mainstream science. With the advent of hi-res digital cameras, picking up "orbs" seems to have become much more commonplace.

Naysayers are quick to point out that dust, water droplets, snow, pollen, water vapor, and other air-borne matter, could just as easily be "orbs". While that's certainly true; it's believed there are some commonly accepted charestics or criteria that should be met before determining wheter or not an "orb" is legimate:

Is the orb circular?

By circular I mean a true circle, not eliptical or oval, but completely round. If it's anything other than round... it's probably not a real orb.

Does it look 3 dimensional or have depth in the photo?

Of all the photos I've seen containing "orbs" I 've yet to see an "orb" that's looks 3 dimensional. Thanks to Hollywood special effects, most people generally think this is what an orb should like in real life, most often you don't see orbs until after you have taken a photo. But I have seen "orbs" that seem to definitely have depth in a photo. The 4th photo is a good example of what could very well be a legimate orb. While It might not look three-dimensional, it does appear to meet the depth criteria.

Does the "Orb" seem to give off it's own light?

Some researchers also contend that many orbs seems to have some sort of cellular mass or stucture to them. I suppose one could contend that would a water droplet, spore, dust or another air-borne material would have the same characteristic.

On photographs Orbs can be a researchers quicksand. In my opinion the perfectly round and light emitting "orbs" are good candidates for the real deal. My school of thought is that a photographed orb would be harder to dismiss if there was some personal experience or other anomaly that occured in concert with the taking of that photograph.

On a side note, I did see a red orb (of the 3 dimensial, Hollywood ball of light variety) pop up in the middle of a room, inside an old abandoned house, a couple of years ago. I'll be talking a little bit about that house in a future article.

Like EVPs there are also classes of Orbs. But I'll go into that in another article. For now enjoy the photos and feel free to comment on them. Again not all of them would be classified as a legitimate orbs, but I posted them for comparison and for you to enjoy.
